March 2005: OmniSTAR BV provides technical support to MapAction's operation in Sri Lanka after Tsunami disaster
      

Following the disastrous consequences of the tsunami late December 2004, OmniSTAR BV, along with Topcon, provides assistance to MapAction, a UK-based non-profit organization, in their operation to help the "tsunami-affected areas" of Sri Lanka. OmniSTAR provides free signals on the units provided by Topcon.

      

MapAction plays an important role in Human Aid Actions after natural disasters. They intervene within 48 hours on the affected location. Thanks to the latest GPS & GIS technology they are able to produce real-time maps. Those maps are showing disaster relief, helping emergency workers saving immediately more lifes, as well as among others health, food and strategic relief (state of the schools, hospitals, bridges, etc.) helping humanitarian & developments programs.
