September 2009
This message is intended for all OmniSTAR users in the European and African regions that use our current AFSAT satellite service at 1535.080 MHz.
Due to a broadcast re-arrangement implemented by our Satellite Provider our broadcast service for the mentioned regions has been moved to a new satellite with a new frequency (1537.440 MHz). The data rate remains 1200 bps. This new satellite service has been named EUSAT.
This new frequency is available as of now and we encourage all our customers to move to that new frequency at their earliest opportunity.
Although for your convenience there will be a transition period until the end of November, during which period also the old frequency will remain available, after September 30th the location of the satellite with the old frequency will be such that the OmniSTAR performance will become sub-optimal for users in Central and Eastern Europe. Those users should move to the new frequency before the end of September. Other users do have more time but should not move to the new frequency later than the end of November.
Customers using a receiver in Automatic Scanning mode are kindly requested to switch the receiver on during a minimum of two consecutive hours before the end of this month September. This is a necessary step for the receiver to download information from the OmniSTAR satellite which enables the automatic switchover to the new frequency.
We do apologize for the inconvenience this satellite switch-over may cause and as always during office hours we will be available for helpdesk and technical support at +31 70 31 70 913.
Alternatively outside office hours and for self-help one can also consult the information at our website.
